The old traditional village of Pagoi is built on the northern slopes of Mount Istoni, amidst lush vegetation and ample running waters. The name of the village probably derives from the ancient ‘pax’ which means rocky hill or cliff rock, since before entering the village there is an imposing formation of six very large rocks. Moreover, many ancient findings have been uncovered in the area. In Pagoi there is also an impressive waterfall, right before entering the village. In the village one may admire the old mansions with the imposing gates and ornate coats of arms, beautiful churches and old olive presses. A spring with 5 heads dating back to 1777 still survives across from the main square. The center of the village is dominated by the church of Agioi Theodoroi and Agia Triada, with the imposing belfry and an elaborate temple inside.
