It is a rocky, but lush islet named Pontikonisi (mouse island) because of its very small size and its position across from the Chalikiopoulos Lagoon. The small Byzantine chapel of Pantokratoras (11th-12th century) is located on the islet. Built in the shallow waters of the lagoon and connected to the land by a small pier, it constitute one of the most popular attractions of Corfu together with the Monastery of Panagia Vlacherna or Vlacherena, which is built on a rock at the entrance to the Chalikiopoulos lagoon.
